Educator & Provider Information:

The Bee Inspired CAPP Program through Building Families is 1 of the Community Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention (CAPP) Grantees in the state of Iowa. We are funded through DHS, and overseen by Prevent Child Abuse Iowa.

Our program works with school districts and alternative settings to meet the Iowa Code 279.50, which was passed in 2007.  The Human Growth & Development mandate states that school districts are required to provide age-appropriate, medically accurate, and evidence-based instruction (comprehensive) in the following topics:

  • Domestic Abuse
  • Health and wellness literacy
  • Human Sexuality
  • Interpersonal Relationships
  • Self Esteem
  • Sexual exploitation by means of the Internet
  • Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) including Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) and HIV/AIDS
  • Stress Management

What can the Bee Inspired CAPP Program do?

  • Provide assistance to schools within Franklin, Hamilton, & Wright Counties to determine which evidence-based curriculum and/or topical presentations would best suit the needs of their school district.  Additional outreach, education, and parent/caregiver supports are available.

All services are provided for FREE through a grant from the Iowa Department of Human Services and PCAIowa.
